Project updates
No code Rarible plugin for Bubble
Background: A bubble.io plug-in was built which allows anyone to spin up a marketplace powered by the Protocol without using any code. (See Proposal and medium article).
Update: Nftymuse just launched. It was built using the plug-in. The total time from build to mainnet was around 2 weeks. Nftymuse is helping traditional contemporary artists navigate and capitalize on the NFT/Web3 space. Check out their cool gallery/marketplace!
DNS.xyz
Background: DNS.xyz is the latest Rarible DAO grant recipient. They are working on integrating the Rarible Protocol, starting with the ability to show any Tezos and Ethereum NFT on DNS, followed by minting, buying, and selling NFTs on their website!
Update: This week, they presented a demo of their collections pages powered by the Rarible Protocol. You're invited to join their Discord at https://discord.gg/dnsxyz and follow their Twitter @DNS
Rarible.com
Update: Tezos is now live on Rarible.com. It is the third chain supported by the Rarible.com marketplace.
🔊 Insights from our Twitter Spaces series: “Metaversing w/ Jin”
On Fridays we have a Twitter Spaces session where we are “Metaversing w/ Jin”: discussing the Open metaverse. Here are some insights from our first two episodes:
Session 1 - The meaning of freedom
Could crypto land make the space more centralized and limit freedom?
Digital scarcity can limit the number of people who own land and enter the metaverse
Artificial scarcity does do something for the open metaverse in terms of supporting projects building on open file formats/standards
The barrier to entry shouldn’t be land but community & culture.
Current conversations within crypto circles revolve mainly around price action. How to shift culture/ethos back to decentralization and freedom, and attract more creators into Web3?
Instead of preaching to the choir hosting crypto events in crypto-native platforms, we should be more present in non-crypto native spaces.
Session 2 - Artists and creators pipeline
On big players entering the space:
Pepsi and Facebook using NFT community lingo on Twitter
You can’t do anything with Pepsi NFTs because of their copyright licensing.
You do more damage & confuse people when you have a huge list of restrictions on what you can and can’t do with the NFTs.
"It's possible to see the metaverse win, but the open and sovereign web3 lose".
Brands entering the space should try to add value to the ecosystem, instead of just jumping on the bandwagon.
Tezos has been a great gateway into web3 and cryptoart due to its community and ease of access. A multichain wallet could be game-changing 🔥
Monetization aspect of the open metaverse
How does an open vs closed metaverse change monetization opportunities for artists?
Payout on platforms like Roblox and app stores is extremely low. We see this with the 30% tax, for example.
NFTs are the greatest thing ever because they allow a direct exchange from artists to consumers, and enable programmable royalties.
💡 Stay tuned for more episodes of our metaverse series with Jin (@dankvr)! We’ll take a break for the Hollidays and will be back on Jan 7th!
